BALLOTS

The Ballots are popular with newer members and members who prefer not to play in inter-club matches.

We are continuing to provide, whenever possible, a minimum of 4 rinks for Ballot sessions on Mondays and Fridays and 2 rinks on a Sunday morning.

Occasions may arise when, if there is no alternative (e.g. heavy demand for rinks on a Surrey/National play-on date), it may be necessary to curtail or cancel the Ballots on a particular day.

Booking to play in the Monday, Friday or Sunday Ballot

To play in a Ballot Session you must arrive at the club and enter your name on the day on the Ballot Sheet located on the desk inside the Bowls Clubhouse before the booking deadline – 20 minutes before the ballot is scheduled to start (see table below).

Day Booking deadline Start time

Finish Time

Monday 1:40pm 2:00pm 4:15pm
Friday 1:40pm 2:00pm 4:15pm
Sunday 10:15am 10:30am 12:30pm

A Ballot organiser will be allocated to each of the Monday and Friday ballots.  As we tend to have fewer participants on a Sunday, the Sunday Ballot session should be organised by the attendees.

Ballot Match Formats

The formats of matches played during a ballot session are dependent on the number of players that sign up for that session. Once the ballot deadline has passed the ballot organisor will work out what formats are possible and may include a mix of formats to ensure all players get a game. The ballot organiser will then select a number of labeled and coloured ballot tiles and place them in a bag. They will then conduct a bag draw with all players on the ballot sign up sheet to decide which players will play in each match and what position they will play in.
